Explore Colombia: Group Trip

Traveling to Colombia is an experience full of magic, diversity and connection with nature, history and the warmth of its people. It is a country where every city and every corner has something special to offer, making the trip unforgettable being one of the most popular countries in Latin America. 🦜☕

Our trip begins with a visit to the capital, Bogota, where tradition meets modernity. We will also visit vibrant cities such as Medellin, the colonial streets of Cartagena and its paradisiacal islands. Not forgetting of course the Eje Cafetero, where one of the most famous coffees in the world comes from,

Colombia is joy, hospitality and diversity. The difference of our trip is that you will be led by a local coordinator, with real knowledge to escape the tourist traps and connect with the real people and cultures of the place.

Type of trip

This is a trip that mixes culture, art and nature. There will be internal flights so we will carry a backpack and not a suitcase.

Flights

Flights are at your own expense. These must be one way to Bogota and return from Cartagena.

Itinerary

Day 1Welcome to Colombia!

Good morning, adventurers! Today our journey together begins. 😊

Flights are not included, so you can book flights according to your preference – you are in full control of your trip from the start!

After checking in and settling in, we will begin our adventure exploring one of Colombia’s most emblematic cities. To begin, we will meet at the arrival point for a briefing on what to expect and also to get to know each other.

Remember that the outbound flight must be to the city of Bogota.

Day 2Discovering Bogota

We will take advantage of this day to get to know the city of Bogota. We will walk through the streets of the colonial neighborhood La Candelaria, the Quevedo jet, we will also have time to climb the hill of Monserrate, visit the gold museum or the house where Simon Bolivar lived.

In the evening, unlike other similar excursions, we will dine not only on Colombian food, but also in a place where locals and not tourists eat.

Day 3Salento and the Eje Cafetero

Our adventure continues and today we get up early to head to Salento and the Eje Cafetero.

This town is famous for its colonial architecture, its colorful streets and its proximity to the Cocora Valley. It is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Eje Cafetero region, ideal for those seeking nature, culture and adventure.

In the afternoon we will visit a coffee farm where we will be able to taste one of Colombia’s star products.

Day 4Cocora Valley

Today we wake up once again eager to continue discovering this colorful country. We will head to the Cocora Valley after breakfast for a walk under its gigantic palm trees, the tallest in the world!

At the end we will return to Salento where we can walk through its main square and Calle Real, full of craft stores, cafes and restaurants offering typical food of the region, such as trout with patacón, which we can enjoy at dinner time.

Day 5We are going to Medellín

The next day we will wake up early to go to Medellin, where we will discover one of the most innovative and exuberant cities in Colombia, explore the famous Museum of Antioquia with its works of Fernando Botero and tour the innovative Comuna 13, full of urban art and energy that once was not so well known, but today is one of the most visited places in the country .

We will also have time to stroll through the Botanical Garden or ride the Metrocable to enjoy a panoramic view of the city and taste the delicious local cuisine at the Provenza market or in the El Poblado neighborhood.

Day 6From Medallo to Guatapé

A new day, a new place to visit. This time, we will go on an excursion to the famous town of Guatapé, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and colorful in all of Colombia and to the famous Peñol stone, a giant monolith to which we can climb and have spectacular views of what was once a town now submerged in water. At the top, we can eat mango viche, take a break and go back down its more than 700 steps.

Day 7Tayrona National Park

It is time to get up early and take the road to paradise, that is, to the Tayrona National Park and enjoy its incredible crystalline beaches: We will have to walk through trails surrounded by lush jungle and discover the richness of its biodiversity until we reach our destination.

Here we will disconnect and it will be used as free time to swim in these Caribbean beaches or just have a cocktail at sunset, take a walk on the sand or whatever you want.

Day 8Exploring Tayrona

When we wake up, we will still have this earthly paradise in front of us, with its beaches and jungles surrounding us as if it were a movie.

But we are still here one more day because it is a large park with about 120 km2 and much to explore. We will spend the afternoon getting to know this magical place, tasting the Caribbean gastronomy and dancing and singing around a bonfire at nightfall.

Day 9Cartagena de Indias

After a few days in paradise, we have to get up early and continue our journey to the famous colonial city of Cartagena de Indias. We will travel by bus departing from the city of Santa Marta on a road of about 4 hours that will be enjoyable watching the panoramic views and the life of the local people.

Founded in 1533, Cartagena de Indias was an important port during colonial times and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Its historic center, known as the Walled City, is full of cobblestone streets, colorful houses with wooden balconies and lively squares. Iconic sites such as the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, the Torre del Reloj and the Getsemaní neighborhood are not to be missed.

Day 11Getting to know Cartagena

We can use this day to go at our own pace or join a free walking tour and learn a little more about the history of this place, its cobblestone streets, the Getsemaní neighborhood, a bohemian neighborhood with street art and lively bars.

In the afternoon we will be able to go on a parranda in a Colombian Chiva, a colorful vehicle to ride through the streets to the rhythm of the music.

Day 10Rosario Islands

Today we are going to the open sea, so we are going by boat to the Rosario Islands, a beautiful archipelago located in the Caribbean Sea, about 35 km southwest of Cartagena. They are known for their crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches and coral reefs, so you will have the option of diving and snorkeling.

In the evening we will return to Cartagena to enjoy the night, the dances, the music and the festive atmosphere that always reigns in the city.
